ABOUT CECILIE WORK

Aesthetics and art have always been a driving force for me, an interest that dates back to a time before I could even put it into words. It was therefore natural that my academic journey began with a degree in Aesthetics and Culture from Aarhus University. After completing my studies, I spent several years working in the performing arts, specifically in theater and opera at the Royal Danish Theatre. However, it was only when I first held ceramics in my hands that something deep inside me was awakened.

Ceramics fascinated me with its union of aesthetics, functionality, and its connection to nature. I am intrigued by how the raw materials of the earth can be transformed into beautiful and durable works through fire. For me, ceramics is not just a craft, but a respectful dialogue with the materials – a process where I continuously experiment with new clays and firing techniques. This balance between technical precision and artistic expression allows me to grow both as an artist and a craftsperson.
